Blockbuster is attempting to LeapFrog Netflix by offering Video Game rental for the same 9 bucks per month.

Blockbuster adds video games to mail offerings

DALLAS Blockbuster Inc. has added video games to its rent-by-mail service, giving shoppers access to more than 3,000 titles on game platforms including Wii, Xbox and Play Station. The retailer -- which has been shedding brick-and-mortar stores and focusing more on its mail-order service as it competes with Netflix Inc. and Redbox -- said it is now the only major service to offer video games by mail. It is offering games for Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii consoles. New customers can rent games for $8.99 per month with no limit on the number of games rented in a month. Video game rentals can be managed just like DVDs at the company's website. Customers can keep games for as long as they want with no late fees as long as they remain a subscriber, and have multiple games out at a time, based on their rental plan.

As a NF sub this is great news... this will force NF's hand. -- Despite what the current crop in Washington think, market based competition is a very good thing.

BTW the Blockbuster servers are CRAWLING SLOW with people checking out the new offer... so have patience.
