Office Depot FAR software beginning 09/05/2010

Seven new FAR titles for the week beginning 08/22/2010: 123 Copy DVD, CheckIt Diagnostics, Digital TV For PC 2, HGTV Instant Makeover, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, Serif WebPlus X4 and Trend Micro AntiVirus + AntiSpyware.

Avanquest System Suite 10 Professional and iolo System Mechanic 08 are advertised this week as well but at least one of the rebates for each of these titles is CONTINUING (*).

****ALERT ON MCAFEE REBATES****

It has been reported on SD that McAfee through its rebate processor, Parago, has started to enforce a one per product restriction on its rebates. Until this is sorted out, submitting more than one rebate per product is not advised even if the rebate has a different rebate number and different offer period. The rebate invalidation message has been reported as "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process".

This one concerns the title McAfee Total Protection 2010, For 3 Users, rebate #1003-21821, with effective purchase dates of 05/30/2010 through 06/12/2010 at Office Depot:

While this rebate was initially noted as valid, it is possible it has been re-evaluated and is now invalid for purchase date.

What is quite shocking about this is that the rebate is invalid because the rebate number is now attached to a completely different product, time period and value: McAfee 2010 Internet Security 3 User at Office Depot with an offer period starting 06/13/2010 (from memory), and is worth $35. Here is what the rebate tracking returns:

To resolve this problem, call the customer service line at 1-866-880-9644 [to speed through the voice mail system, try enter "1" for English, "4" for invalid, and "0" for CSR], tell the CSR the tracking number, let the CSR tell you why the rebate is invalid and then explain the situation: the rebate you submitted was for a different title and different offer period. If there is an issue have the CSR check the scanned in rebate submission. If necessary, ask to speak to a manager.
